Feeling Stressed? Here’s How CBD May Help You

Do you know, 8 out of 10 Americans are suffering from stress in one way or another? Be it family issues, work pressure, or any other thing, stress has become an inseparable part of our lives. Maybe, you too are going through it right now.

Well, in my opinion, some stress every now and then isn’t really a big deal, as long as it’s not chronic. Chronic stress, yes, is not only bad for your mental health but may also lead to various physical issues, such as high blood pressure, headaches, chest pain, etc. And this sure isn’t something you want happening.

So, how to avoid it?           

Well, one way to do it would be to take anti-anxiety medicines. But that perhaps isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. People today are trying to avoid synthetic medications as much as possible and turning more towards natural solutions.

Fortunately, with stress too, we have something of that sort- CBD!

Now, the research on the substance is still not very comprehensive, I agree. However, initial studies tell us about its potential in helping people manage stress. Here’s all you need to know about it.

What is CBD?

Short for cannabidiol, CBD is one of the 100+ different cannabinoids of the cannabis plant. In the past few years, it has become really famous for its therapeutic properties and is being used on a very large scale against various physical and psychological conditions. Some of the most popular effects of CBD include stress management, pain relief, anti-inflammation, anti-anxiety, etc.

The compound is available in both the marijuana plant and the hemp plant. Marijuana CBD, though, is a bit more potent and effective as compared to the hemp one.

Is CBD Intoxicating?

If you are thinking of using CBD for stress or any other purposes, there’s one question that is perhaps there on your mind- Is the substance intoxicating? In fact, this is one of the most important questions a CBD user may ask.

The simple answer to this would be no. No, CBD cannot get you high. The cannabis plant has many different cannabinoids, one of which is THC. And THC is the compound responsible for the mind-altering high by the herb. CBD, on the other hand, is completely non-intoxicating.

But hey, if you plan on using CBD in a state where cannabis is illegal, you still need to make sure it is hemp-based. CBD, in itself, isn’t intoxicating. However, while it’s prepared, some bits of THC may still linger with it. And in a cannabis-illegal state, you are not allowed to use a product with a THC content of more than 0.3 percent. That’s why you should only use a hemp-based CBD product, which ensures less than 0.3 percent of THC.

CBD for Stress- What Does The Research Say?

When we say that CBD is an effective aid against stress, it’s not just our words. There are various studies also proving the same.

There was a study in the year 2010 suggesting that CBD not only helps manage the current anxiety but also changes the way our brain reacts to that anxiety. Post consuming CBD, researchers saw some considerable changes in the blood flow patterns in the brains of the subjects induced due to stress and anxiety.

A similar 2011 study suggested that CBD may help reduce anxiety caused by public speaking.

And a 2014 research also suggests that the right CBD dosage may have anxiolytic and antidepressant properties.

In addition to these, there are many other studies advocating the potential benefits of CBD against SAD, PTSD, OCD, GAD, insomnia, etc. 

Different Ways to Consume CBD

Wanna try CBD for your stress but not sure of how? Well, there are many ways you may do it. And here are some of the most common ones.

Smoking

Perhaps the easiest and the most common way of consuming CBD is smoking. It’s the method that provides you with very quick effects. Just get a high-CBD and low-THC marijuana bud, roll your joint, and puff it away. You’ll start feeling its effects within a few minutes.

However, smoking surely isn’t the healthiest way of consuming cannabis. And it might not be your first choice if you want to avoid respiratory issues. Here are a few other methods you may try, in that case.

Vaping

Another common way of consuming CBD is vaping. Now, inhalation is there with this method too. But here, instead of burnt particles, you’re inhaling vapors, which are formed by heating CBD vape oil or flowers. This makes vaping a great alternative to smoking.

Tinctures

A CBD tincture is a concentrated form of CBD that you can just consume by placing a few drops under your tongue. This particular method is also very quick and offers quite strong effects.

Edibles

Consuming CBD in the form of edibles is again a very famous way of consuming the substance. Edibles are the products that are infused with CBD and can be ingested like any other food item. The effects, though, can be a little late, as the compound has to go through the GI tract. Hence, you need to be patient here.

Stress, as I said, isn’t a bad thing, as long as it’s within limits. Chronic, though, it may make it very difficult for you to live a normal life. So, if you feel like having a lot of stress lately, you must do something about it. 
CBD, as we discussed, is coming out to be an effective aid against stress and a lot of people look for the best oils and then use it for anxiety. Give it a try. Who knows, it may turn your life for good!
